today was an exciting day 🥰 today was an exciting day 🥰
Today is more than just posting a black square on Today is more than just posting a black square on your Instagram. It is about taking actions to make transformative changes whether it’s through donations, peacefully protesting, signing petitions, self-education on anti-racism and the current injustices, or addressing the learned racism that lies within yourself and the people around you. I made this graphic with a brief list of things you can do to be an ally. Have conversations with your loved ones. A few topics you can talk about: white supremacy that exists, white privilege, the protests and their message, mass incarceration and criminalization of BIPOC, police brutality, institutionalized racism, lack of Black history taught in educational systems, and the displaced lives of BIPOC due to gentrification of neighborhoods. Post on social media to spread ways to genuinely help the cause, not to be a performative ally. The only way change can happen is by putting in hard work to make it real. We all need to work together consistently, every day. Not just today. • “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” -Desmond Tutu •
